ABOUT ME

DORIAN CUNION, FOUNDER

My philosophy: Success is not measured by your title or paycheck but by the difference you make for others. Drawing on two decades of experience as a consultant, manager, and executive, I empower leaders to create strategies for accelerating their own careers and organizations. 

 

My experience ranges from consulting for small businesses to managing P&L responsibility for a $2.5B retail business. I’ve coached and mentored over a hundred busy professionals. Wherever you are in your professional journey, I can empathize with you and help you acquire the skills and experience needed to achieve your professional goals.  

I’ve held roles in marketing, recruiting, sales, and franchise relations, and I have an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus focused on leadership. I am equally as comfortable sitting in a plush leather chair in a boardroom as I am sitting on a milk crate in the back room of a convenience store. But I am most comfortable when I am helping ambitious people like you pave a path to personal and professional success.

Q. How is an executive coach different from a life coach?

Life coaches focus on the whole person and will work with you to overcome relationship, career and interpersonal challenges. Executive Coaches specialize in helping people build competency, and confidence within a business or work environment. Like any specialty, Executive Coaches can help you improve faster, and grow more because of their laser focus on producing professional excellence.

Q. How is an executive coach different from a mentor?

Mentors are typically unpaid relationships where someone who has experience passes on their wisdom to a mentee that is looking to follow in their footsteps. Mentors are an important part of the professional development journey becuase they are valuable sources of knowledge and wisdom. Executive Coaches differ from mentors in that are trained to listen to their clients, reflect back what they hear, challenge current thinking, assist in goal setting, and help with personal accountability. 

Q. How is executive coaching different than mental health therapy?

Mental health therapy is an approach to treating mental health issues. Licensed professionals perform it and can be extremely helpful for addressing problems with stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, and diagnosed mental health disorders. Executive Coaching is not a substitute for mental health therapy. Some professional development issues require the assistance of a trained mental health professional. Executive Coaching focuses on developing forward-looking action plans to give you practical skills, knowledge, and accountability to achieve professional goals.
